AMUSEMENTS. .“TH E ' P ATS Y" “T H E . P A T S-Y” "THE- PATSY" Simply bubbles over: with epigrammatic wit, and it deals with human middle-class people who act in the most human and natural way. In it there are no crime mysteries, no psychological problems, no striving after high dramatic effect—just a simple story about real people. There is Patricia Harrington, unsophisticated, lovable, lonely, scorned by her mother, and despised'by her sister. There are Mrs Harrington and daughter Grace, the one a domineering social climber, and the other a waspish young woman, rude to her mother, ashamed of her father, and always fearful of what other people will say about “the family.” Then there is Mr Harrington, who “ peddles groceries,” good-natured, plain of speech, exasperated at the constant bickerings of the family, and a “great -stickler ’ r for little -Pat. Two likeable young men, Tony. Anderson and Billy Caldwell, .both suitors of Grace, complete the little gathering, of persons concerned. Not very, promising" material, one would imagine. But 'it is soon discovered that under.her simplicity “The Patsy” has much of the “eternal feminine ” —especially when it comes to getting the man she wants.
