. PRIVATE CAPITAL’S RESPONSE . , BIUTY. PERNICIOUS GO-SLOW POLICY. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 24. Speaking at the Eden Chamber of Commerce, the Minister of Health (Mr A. J. Stallworthy) said that unemployment was a matter- in which all should co-operate. , _ There was' relatively £9,000,000 lying idle in the banka, which made clear that, many citizens were not pulling their weight in an effort to get back to general prosperity. A goslow or strike policy on the part of capital could be just asi pernicious as other policies. The Government did not want to interfere with legitimate private enterprise, but there was a responsibility on private capital to. get the Doof its present difficulties. Although recovery was slow, the Government was doing its utmost to improve the position. Immigration had been stopped for the time being. Over £2,000,000 had been liberated to give the country new confidence, and an active public works policy was being pursued. It was fair to assume that had there not been a radical change of poliev by the- new Government 'the unemployed position would have been very much worse than it was to-day.
