The Sunday Express stated that Mr Walter Citrine, secretary of the Trade Union Congress, and Mr Sassenback, secretary of the International Federation of Trade Unions went secretly to Rome to persuade Signor Mussolini to allow Italy to Join the federation. The Labour leaders harangued for exactly 65 minutes, after which Signor Mussolini talked for exactly 65 .minutes. Ho concluded : “ You have the audacity to ask me to delegate the rule of my .workpeople to a handful of political fanatics at Amsterdam. You have wasted youi time, and I do not know whose money.” Signor Mussolini then rang the bell, and the door was opened for the exit of the Labourites.
