The weather conditions were perfect for play, and the course was in excellent order. paring the morning the second qualifying round of stroke play for the championship was concluded, a number of particularly good cards being handed in. Although Miss O. Kay did not succeed in repeating her remarkable performance of 74 of (he first round, her second round of 78 was indicative of really good golf. In yesterday morning’s round, however, her work on the greens was a trille erratic, and although she approached beautifully she frequently missed short putts. After reaching the green at Tipperary in three she took three putts for a bogey six, and at M‘Glashan’s she was also in trouble on the green. The first three holes were taken in bogey figures, but the short fourth cost her four, and the Terrace was also taken in one over bogey. The next two holes wore gained in par figures, she took the Monastery in birdie four, and the Glen cost her five, making 41 for the outward journey. The Mount and Tipperary were taken in bogey figures, but poor putting at M'Glashan’s cost her five. An excellent recovery was made at Manuka, which was taken with an eagle three, but Roy’s was disastrous, for it cost her five (bogey three). Miss Kay rallied again at, Spion Kop and Hawthorn, which were taken in birdie figures. The last two holes were done in par figures, making 37 for the second half, and 78 for the round. Mrs Dodgshun showed a considerable improvement on her play in' the first round, and equalled Miss Kay’s score of <8 after a round of sound play. She commenced rather weakly, taking five and six for the first two holes. The next four holes were taken in bogey figures, but an eagle three at the Monastery and a bogey four at the, Glen brought her score for the first half to 39, one over par. A four at the Mount (bogey three) was followed by five holes in bogey figures. A birdie four at Hawthorn was counteracted by a five at the Horae hole, and the second half nas done in 39, making 78 for the round. An excellent performance was alsp put up by Mrs M'Cartliy, who did the round in SO, 39 out and 41 in. She took the first six holes in par figures, but the Camels Back and the Monastery cost' her five and six respectively. A birdie three at the Glen, however, improved mattei s, and she turned for home with a score of 39. After taking the tenth m bogey, she met trouble at Tipperary, which cost her seven, while M'Glashan’s and Roy s were also taken in one stroke over bogey. A birdie four at Spion Kop made an improvement in the score, while the next two holes were taken in figures. A live at the eighteenth, however, brought her score up to 41 for the second half, making a total of SO for the round. Miss M. Stevens continued to plav consistent golf, and returned a card o‘f SO for the round. She did the first hole m birdie four, the second and third in par figures, but then took four for the short fourth. The next five holes were done in bogey figures, ami her score for the outward journey stood at 39.
