1930 RUGBY TOUR.
MR JAMES BAXTER MANAGER. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, February 14. Mr James Baxter, who was a very popular and able president of the English Rugby Union until two years ago, has been selected as the manager of the Rugby Union side to tour New Zealand and Australia in 1930. This waa announced at a meeting of the Rugby Union this week. During his presidency and ever since Mr Baxter has been an advocate for the. representation of the dominions on. an Imperial Board, and he is very sympathetic with dominion aspirations generally. He should make a very popular and able manager of the team. The selectors of the team will be Mr Baxter, Mr J. Daniell, and Mr A. D. Stoop, with power to co-opt. At the same meeting of the union it was decided to ask the International Board to invite the South African Rugby Football Board to send a side in 1931-32 to tour the four Home countries. With regard to the Rowland Hill Memorial. a design subject to inodifioaGmi has been selected, and the memorial will be erected at Twickenham.
