Burnside, April 10. Fat Cattle.—The entry for to-day’s sale comprised 285 head of good quality cattle. There were several pens of really tine bullocks, also a good number of specially good cows and heifers. The demand at the commencement of the sale was not keen, and values at this stage were back fully 20s below last week’s rates. Competition became keener after the first race was sold. Prices at this stage were almost on a par with last week’s rates. The demand, however, slackened toward the closing stages, the values by this time being from 30s to 35s below prices ruling at last week’s market. CHRISTCHURCH, April 10. Entries were again heavy at the weekly market yesterday, store ewes and- lambs being well up to recent yardings, with fat cattle 50 ner cent, more than normal. The market throughout was steady. Store Lambs. —Ewes were forward from widely scattered quarters. The lower rates ruling this last fortnight were maintained, there being a substantial buying element. All lambs, except best sorts, were back by Is to Is Gd a head. Choppers realised £2 to £6; baconers, £2 to £4 9s Gd (average price per lb sri to Gd); porkers, 38s to 54s Gd (average price per lb 7d to Tjd).
