NEW YORK MONEY MARKET. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright ) . NEW YORK, February 15. (Received Feb, 17, at 5.5 p.m.) The local Reserve Board yesterday held a meeting lasting over four hours, after which it simply announced that the rediscount rate would not be raised to-day. Wall street is considerably disturbed by a rumour that a sensational fight on the subject occurred yesterday over the telephone between the board and the Treasury Department. No settlement occurred to-day when call money rose from 61 to 10 per cent. The market closed weak, I and apparently relief was caused by the unchanged re-discount rate, tempered by the length of the board’s meeting and the reported quarrel with the • Treasury Department, which supposedly has persuaded the New York board to hold down the rate against the local wish.—Australian Press Association.
