TRAGEDY NARROWLY AVERTED,

(Per United Press Association;) . STRATFORD, February 15. ; Two lads had.a remarkable escape on Mount - Egmont yesterday. They were glissading oh, the hard snow and, losing their ice axes, were powerless to stop, running 2000 -feet before being pulled up by the, soft snow. But for this they must have been dashed to death.
