THE WORLD COURT
AMERICA'S RESERVATIONS. AN UNDERSTANDING DESIRED. (United Press Association.} (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.} \VASHINGTON, February 7. Mr Elihu Root, an authority on international law, will undertake an unofficial diplomatic mission with the idea of seeking an understanding among the world Powers on America’s reservations relating to the World Court. One important reservation would deny the right of the court to render an advisory opinion involving the United States without the previous consent of this country to consideration of the case. • Some international lawyers believe that the court is already bound to render no advisory opinion without the unanimous consent of the Council of the League of Nations. In that case all other nations have the right with regard to advisory opinions asked by the United States.
It is believed by some that if the reservations regarding advisory opinions are accepted the biggest stumbling block to adherence of the United States will he removed. —Australian Press Association—United Service.
