THE AUSTRALIAN STRIKE. LABOUR COUNCIL IMPOSES LEVY. (United Press Association.) * (By Electric Telegraph— Copyright.) SYDNEY, February 8. As the result of the timber strike, the Labour Council Executive has decided to impose a levy of Is a week on adult males and 6d a week on females on all members who are working. . A significant feature is the special exemption from the levy given to the Miners’ Federation in view of the condition existing in the coal industry. MILLS AT PORT ADELAIDE.
NON-UNION LABOUR ENGAGED
ADELAIDE, February 8. Indications point to all the mills at Port Adelaide being in full swing bv Monday. The owners have engaged non-union labour to augment the skeleton ■ staffs which have been carrying on. J
