The King Arthur, the seventh to be completed of the nine high-class motor cargo ■ vessels ordered by the King Line from Messrs Earland and Wolff, Belfast, has been delivered to her owners after running .satisfactory official trials. Constructed to Lloyd’s Register’s 100 A 1 class, she Is 400 feet In length between perpendiculars, 54 feet G Inches in moulded breadth, 34. feet 8 inches In moulded depth, and of 5220 tons gross. The propelling machinery consists of a Harland-B and W. slx-cyllnder, four-cycle, alngle-actlng Diesel motor, and the engine room and deck auxiliaries are electrically driven. NEW HAIN LINE STEAMERS. ' The . Haiti . Steamship Company, Ltd., have contracted - with Messrs Harland and Wolff for the construction of a cargo steamer of about 9000 tons deadweight. The vessel, which Is to be built at the firm’s Govan yard, will be of about 4736 tons gross, 421 feet In length, 55 feet 9 inches In breadth, and 35 feet 9 Inches In depth, and will be fitted with triple expansion engines of about 2500 i.h.p. The engines are to be constructed on the Clyde. From the yards of Messrs Barclay, Curie) and Company, Scotstoun, the steamer Bangalore, 435 feet in •length by 57ft 4 inches In breadth, by 32 feet 3 Inches In depth, to carry about 9200 tons deadweight, and steam about 14 knots, was launched In June last year. The owners are the Haln Steamship Company, Ltd,, Cardiff. DANISH MOTOR SHip VICTORIA. The twin-screw motor ship Victoria, which has been built by Nakskov Skibsvaerft (Nakshov Shipyard, Ltd.), Nakskov, Denmark, for the Steamship Company Orient, Ltd., Copenhagen, has been delivered to her owners after carrying out successful official trials. She Is of the open-shelter deck type and has been constructed to Lloyd’s highest class, her length overall being 401 feet, length between perpendiculars 385 feet, moulded breadth 54 feet 3 Inches and depth - from the main deck 27 feet 4 Inches. The deadweight carrying capacity Is about 9000 tons. - In the double bottom, which - extends for the whole length of the ship, there Is provision for about 1200 tons of fuel oil. The cargo handling appliances include 11 derricks and 10 electric winches. The main engines are of the Burmelster and Wain type, and together develop a total of 3200 1.h.p., giving the loaded vessel, at a draft of 24 feel 4Vi Inches a speed of about XU- knots. The accommodation Is steam-heated. The Victoria is the foutr motor ship which Nakskov have built for the Steamship Company Orient and a fllfth Is under construction.
