GENERAL CONFERENCE. This week a different group of Y.W.C.A. members are meeting in the Wellington Diocesan School for Girls. For the past seven days representatives from six of the- New Zealand communities" of girl citizens' have been in conference working out their policy for the ensuing year, and now they have been followed by groups representing the national and local boards, committees, staff, senior clubs, and general membership. This second- conference was opened on Friday last by Mrs J. Sutherland Ross, of Dun,edin, who, in the absence of Mrs Daniel Smithy chairman of the National Board, is acting as conference president. In welcoming the delegates. Mrs Ross pointed out that they had come apart so that together they might think on the things of the Spirit, and thus gain fresh inspiration for the new year. The organiser of the conference, Miss Ethel Law, M.A., national general secretary, then read greetings from Miss Ella Fair, hon. secretary of. the National Board, the presidents of Timn.ru, Wellington, and Dunedin, and Mrs Kenner and Miss Farqulmr. Verbal greetings were also given from Mrs J. A. Bradstreet (president in Auckland), and Mrs G. H. 'Wilson,- and from Mrs Alexander, president of the New Plymouth Association. A roll of conference was then called, seven associations responding. The Dunedin delegates are as follows:—■ Mrs Sutherland Ross, (vice-president), Miss Hall (board member), Miss A. Clarke (Senior Club member), while Miss Bardsley (secretary of the Te Tnumatu Extension Department), and Miss E. Brief outlines of the programmes to be tollowcd during the week were given by the Misses Russell, and enrolments taken at the end of the session.
