CHIROPRACTORS’ ASSOCIATION.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE. The' ninth annual conference of the Now Zealand and Australian Chiropractors’ _ Association was held recently at Wellington. The president (Mr J. A. Scott) was in the chair, and delegates from_ Whangarei, Auckland, Thames, Hamilton, Napier, Hastings, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, and Dunedin were present. Apologies for absence were received from members at Rotorua, GisMasterton, Wanganui, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Gore; and apologies, suggestions, and good wishes were also received from representatives at Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, and Sydney. ‘ The report showed that the membership was steadily increasing and was now higher than in any previous year. The balance sheet disclosed a net credit balance of £l4l Os Id. The co-operative insurance fund was considered to be in such a satisfactory position that it was decided to reduce from £SO to £25 the annual subsidy payable from the general fund to the insurance fund. ’ Officers were elected as follows:—President and secretary, Mr J. A. Scott; vice-president, Mr P. Colwill; treasurer, Mr J. M. Craig; committee— Messrs T, Giles (Auckland), J. R. Hart (Napier), W. C. Lawson (Palmerston North), R. V. Lorenzen (Nelson), and J. Giles (Dunedin). The following were appointed a Chiropractic Defence Committee for the year:—Messrs J. A. Scott, J. P. Colwill, J. M. Craig, T. Giles, and A. H. Thomson. A code of ethics and of professional conduct, prepared by the president chiefly for the guidance of younger members of the profession, was received with warm approval, and was finally adopted in its entirety. Remits regarding political and legislative matters were dealt with; and proposals for combined newspaper publicity, submitted bv' a leading advertising agency, were fully discussed. The conference, while entirely favourable to the idea of co-operative publicity on educational lines, was of opinion that the scheme proposed did not fulfil requirements. _ 1 It is decided to hold the next conference in Auckland.
