THE LINER CELTIC

little hope of, refloating

ENGINE ROOM (FLOODED

(United Press Association.)

(By Etectrlo Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, December 12, •. (Received Dec. 13, at 5.5 p.m.) Salvage experts express little hope of refloating the Celtic. They say that if she had missed the rocks by ouly her own width she would have been unscathed, but she struck under the engine room. There is a rock through her like a pinnacle, and there is’ now 25 feet of water in the engine ropm, and the stokehold is flooded. The cargo will probably bo thrown overboard.

A pathetic, lonely figure in his cabin is the commander, who has been calling at Queenstown for 30 years without an accident.—Australian Press Association.
