BOY SCOUT MOVEMENT
DISTINCT BODY TO BE FORMEt). ORGANISATION ON THE SEA. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) • LONDON, December T. . (Received Dec. 8, at 0.30 a.m.) f Boy Scouts will shortly appear on’the high seas, according to the latest plan of Sir Robert Baden Powell, who .has founded the movement with the intention of establishing deep-sea scouts. A distinct, body of sea scouts has now ,been organised at ports, with the object of carrying out the scout spirit afloat, enrolling all boys working on ocean-going ships. Thus cabin boys, mess boys, and stewards’ assistants will soon have their own troops, and will work in conjunction with shore troops. The authorities say there is not a'big seaport in the world iu which the boy scout movement .has not obtained a footing. When a deep-sea scout lands abroad be' ' will be welcomed- and shown hospitality, arrangement being mndr whereby scout commissioners overseas 'will get in ■ touch with scouts afloat, search them out, and start troops in the respective ships. By the time the ’scout movement celebrates its twenty-first birthday here next summer it is hoped that deepsea scouts will be sailing all Cue oceans of the world.—Times Cable.
