SILAS MALING
DOUBLE BLOW SUFFERED. DIVORCED And LOSES APPEAL. (United Press Association.) ' (By Electric Telegraph— Copyright.) . SYDNEY, December 5. (Received Dec. 5, at 11 p.m.) Silas Maling suffered a double blow to-day. He was divorced, and his appeal ■ at the quarter sessions against his concoction of bribery arising? out of the Babcock, Wilcox contract with the council was dismissed. MaliAe counsel asked Mr Justice Curlewis, to bind Maling over instead of sending him to prison for six months, as required by the magistrate in the lower court. Mr Justice Curlewis said it was a case more for an increase because of the depths of corruption shown in this case. He ordered the sentence to stand; Maling has been removed to Lob" Bay prison. . ° SUIT NOT DEFENDED. " SYDNEY, December 5, (Received Dec. 5, at 11 p.m.) In the Divorce" Court Olive Maling obtained a_ decree, nisi, returnable in six months, dissolving her marriage with - Silas Maling, .formerly of the City Council Electricity Department, on the ground of his misconduct with Mrs Hillas Pittock. Maling did not defend the suit and costs yrere given against him. ; .
