(Received December 4, at 5.5 p.m.) A meeting of the executive committees of trade unions in the wool and fextffe trade, which was held at Bradford, decided to support another application by the employers under the. Safeguarding of Industries Act for safeguarding dress goods. The trade unions opposed the previous application, which was made in 1025. •, TRADE UNIONS’ SUPPORT. THE PROBABLE REASON. LONDON, December 4. (Received Dec. 4, at 11 p.m.) , The meeting of the wool trades unions' employees at Bradford on Tuesday is awaited with the keenest interest. The Bradford correspondent of the Daily Herald declares that safeguarding develbpments are connected . with the recent move against wages. The employers proposed a reduction, but' then withdrew the proposal. Meanwhile, the subject of safeguarding has been raised, and the decision of Saturday’s conference' may bo taken as a willingness to test the employers’ repeated demand for safeguarding, rather than committing the unions to believe in Its efficiency.-—Aus-tralian Press Association.
