MENTAL DEFECTIVES.
THE GOVERNMENT’S PROPOSALS. BILL STRONGLY CRITICISED. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August SO. Strong criticism of the Mental Defectives Bill was voiced at to-clay’s annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute. It was unanimously decided that the Government should be urged to postpone the Bill for a year. While admitting the need for its provisions, the mover declared that they could be drastically revised after a conference between representatives of the teaching profession, pyschologists, and social workers.
