NEW ZEALAND v. NEW SOUTH WALES. PORTER TO CAPTAIN ALL BLACKS. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 30. Porter has been. appointed captain, Cooke .vice-captain. and Mr A. J. Geddes manager of the New Zealand team to play New South Wales. . . The All Blacks at present in South Africa have been asked to play in Melbourne on their way home. The terms have been sent to the manager to see if they will suit the team. OTAGO v. SOUTHLAND. The following team has been selected to represent Otago against Southland, at Invercargill, on Wednesdaj- nest: — Backs. —Nicholson, Fountain, F. PAYNE SHIELD MATCH. The match for the Payne Trophy between University A and Canterbury College, the premier teams of the two provinces, will be played at Carisbrook. Both teams can be relied'upon to play fast, open football, and a spectacular match may be expected. The Canterbury team arrived in Dunedin yesterday, and is staying at the City Hotel. As a curtainraiser the shield match between Addingtop and Hillside Workshops will be played. •„ , The following team will represent the Otago University:— .
