At Brookline Lott and Hennessy advanced to the third round in the doubles bv defeating Tapia and Unba (Mexico), 6—o, 6—o, o—2. Van Ryn and Alison defeated Wiliam Aydelott and P. G. Rockafellow, 6—3, o—4, 6—2; W. W. Ingraham and A. W. Jones defeated Karlkammam and Charles Barnes, 6 —3, 6o—2; Cummings and Moon defeated Borotra and Rene De Buzelat (France), 6—2, 6—4, 6—4; Cochet and Brugnon defeated Austin and Gregory (England), 6—4, 7 —5, 7 —5. Cummings and Moon’s victory over the French is considered here as a startling upset, particularly since Borotra and De Buzelet yesterday defeated Collins and Higgs, the Ehgilsh pair. The French were erratic, and, although occasionally playing dashing tennis, they were unable to cope with the steady, vigorous attack of the Australians.

Hopman and Crawford defeated Wright and Crocker, 6 —l, 6—o, 6—4; Patterson ami Hawkes defeated Docg and Coen, 6—l, B—6, 6—4. In the mixed doubles Miss Helen Wills and Kawkes defeated Miss Marjorie Gladnmn and Boussus, 6—2, 6—3. W. R. Williams and Watson Washbum defeated Fred, and Don. Dixon, 6—l, 6—2, 4—6, 6—3.
