BOXING.

BARBER v. LECKIE. Tom Heeney’s bout with Gene Tuimcy for the world’s heavy-weight title is now but a memory, and all enthusiasts arc talking of to-night’s fight at the Kensington Drill Hall between the foremost featherweights in Australia and New Zealand today, Johnny Leckie. of Dunedin, and Tommy Barber, of Sydney. Both have beaten some of the finest men in Australasia, and Barber went 15 rounds with the ex-English champion, Johnny Curley, though the latter was a good deal the heavier man. Barber showed when matched with Tommy Griffiths that lie is a very heavy puncher, and Johnny Leckie will have to give of his very best in order to maintain bis unbeaten professional record. It should be a tremendous fight, and it would not bo surprising were it to be witnessed by 6000 or 7000 people. The issue is very open, and with two such solid punchers in the ring anything is liable to happen. Interesting preliminaries will precede the main affair. Both contestants have been passed ns medically fit. Air J. Kilmartin will officiate as referee, and the First Battalion Band will be in attendance.
