ANGLING IN NEW ZEALAND.

A TRAVELLER’S COMPLAINT. iFkom Ocr Own Correspondent.) LONDON, June 30. Early this year an English sporting enthusiast who bad returned from New Zealand, drew the attention of Sir James Parr to the high fees which were charged anglers from overseas for fishing licenses ; in the Taupo district. It was pointed out to the High Commissioner that the heavy discrimination in fees between residents of the Dominion and visitors from overseas was very unwise from the point of view of the encouragement of tourists, and instances were quoted of the positive refusal of certain visitors to pay the amounts, preferring to deny themselves the fishing. Sir James Parr communicated these comments to the New Zealand Government, and by the last' mail a reply was received from the Prime Minister that the matter had already been under consideration, and that considerable reductions in both day and weekly licenses were proposed and would shortly bo gazetted.
