ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

DEATH FROM GUNSHOT WOUND. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 27. With the top of his head blown off by a gunshot wound, Alexander Stockdale, aged 50, a farmer, of Highbank, near Methven, was found dead early this morning. A double-barrelled shot gun lay alongside the body with one barrel discharged. PORT CHALMERS FATALITY. Mr J. R, Bartholomew, S.M., held an inquest at the Morgue early yesterday morning concerning the death of Henry Claude Dineen, who was killed at the Port Chalmers Spit road the previous day. The inquest was held for the purpose of identification, and after the evidence of the deceased’s son was adjourned sine die. Sergeant Vaughan represented the police, and evidence was given by Nesbit Mackie Dineen, who identified the body as that of his father. The inquest was then adjourned, in order that further inquiries might be made into the incident. ' A FRACTURED LEG. A youth named James Bardwell, aged 19 years, residing at 5 Clyde street, was admitted to the Hospital at 4 p.m., suffering from a fractured left leg and abrasions to his left arm, received as a result of falling from the roof of an engineering workshop where he was endeavouring to replace a belt.
