SALES OF WORK.
The sale of work in aid of the Central Methodist Mission debt reduction fund was continued yesterday afternoon and evening in the Slade Hall. There was a large attendance of buyers at both sessions, and when the sale was concluded at night most of the goods were disposed of. The effort proved an unqualified success from every point of view, and the funds benefited considerably by the takings. During the evening entertainment was provided by competitions, and the girls of the Bible class performed very creditably as a minstrel troupe. ALE. A very successful jumble sale organised by Mrs R. S. Black, was held in the Y.W.C.A. hall yesterday afternoon and evening. The object of the effort was to raise funds to send an Otago representative basketball team to play a match at Auckland. A varied array of articles of clothing, preserves, cakes, sweets, etc., were displayed, and most of the goods were disposed of. There were good attendances of the public, and a satisfactory sum, which will ensure the sending of a team, was realised.
