FREE KINDERGARTEN.
The monthly meeting of the council of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association was held in Burns Hall last Thursday afternoon, when there were present: Mesdames Phillips (in the chair). Ewing, Brickell, Sidey, Theomin, Callan, Garth Gallaway, R. Hudson, Glendining, Shand, Hutchison, Maclean, Evans, Batham and Miss Scott. • Leave of absence was granted Lady Allen and Miss Ulrich to whom a vote of sympathy was extended on the illness in her family. , , ~ It was reported that the attendances had fallen a little during the past quarter. doubtless due to the cold wet weather and many children having reached school ago. Leave of absence was granted Miss Dutton from July 24 to the middle of September to allow her attending the Pan-Pacific Conference. The Education Committee reported that the matter of the new syllabus had been carefully gone into and would shortly be available. Mrs Phillips and Mrs Batham were appointed the voting delegates for the Dunedin Association at the forthcoming conference. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Ewing on the oustanding success of the concert which she had organised. Appreciation was expressed at the enthusiasm and interest shown by local comtmitees and the mothers and fathers’ clubs. Subscriptions amounting to £23 I3s were handed in, and accounts for £l3B 10s 9d were passed for payment.
