AMERICAN SHIPPING

SALE OF GOVERNMENT LINES. THE BOARD’S APPROVAL. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, July 2. (Received July 3, at 7.25 p.m.) The sale of the United States lines has been approved by the Ship Sales Committee of the United States Shipping Board. The plan of the sale is not disclosed, but it will be submitted to the board, and it is expected that it will be approved, although some quarters believe that the board will not sell the ships, but is merely “ feeling out ” the market. A sale would practically remove the Government from the shipping business.—Australian Press Association.
