She is timed to fall at 3 p.m. on Friday on the return voyaSThe Port Sydney is scheduled to sail from Wellington to-day for London, via Cape Horn. The Karetu is scheduled to load at Sydney and Newcastle this week for Bluff, Dunedin and Oamaru. She is due here about July 14. The Waikoualti is to leave Lyttelton to-day for Timaru and Dunedin. After loading general cargo at Dunedin she will proceed to Bluff to complete loading for Melbourne, Sydney and Napier, Waikobopu, Gisborne and Auckland. She is to leave Auckland about July 18 for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool, via Panama. _ . The steamer Brynje left Bunbury on June. 27 with a cargo of hardwood for Auckland. The Walruna cleared Suva last Friday afternoon for Fanning Island, and will sail thence to Vancouver, San Francisco and Los Angeles to. load for Auckland, Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth, also possibly for Bluff or Nelson. She is to clear Los Ange.es on August 15. MAKURA AT WELLINGTON. .The R.M.S. Makura arrived at Wellington early yesterday morning from Sa,n Francisco, via ports, one day later than schedule. The vessel was delayed by stormy weather on the last stage of her voyage. She Is timed to leave Wellington at 3 p.m. to-day for Sydney. TONGARIKO AT LONDON. Cable news received by the Federal Company states that the Tongarlro arrived at London on Uie morning of June 28 from rort Cha - mer . MOERAKI FOR ISLAND TRADE. In preparation for the new three-weekly shipping service from Sydney to Fiji, the Union Company’s steamer Moerakl, which has been lying at Wellington for neary a year, is undergoing extensive overhaul. The vessel will leave Sydney on July 25 for Noumea and Suva, on her first voyage under the new scheme. Built by Messrs Denny Rrotbers, the Moerakl, whose registered tonnage Is 4421, first arrived at Wellington on December 12. 1902. MAMARI AND KIA ORA AT LONDON. The Shaw, Savin and Albion Company has been notified by cable that the Mamari arrived at London on the afternoon of June 27 from Auckland. The vessel left Auckland on May 16 for London and West Coast ports of Great Britain. Cabled advice has been received by the Shaw, Saviil and Albion Company that the Kia Ora arrived at London on the afternoon of June 27 from Wellington. The vessel sailed from Wellington on May 15. FAST HOMEWARD VOYAGE. A smart voyage from Wellington was made by the Federal steamer Somerset, which Is reported to have arrived at Loudon on June 25. two days ahead of schedule. She sailed from Wellington with a full-cargo of New Zealand produce on May 17. From London the Somerset is to go to West of England ports to discharge the balance of her cargo. She is schedu&d to sail from Liverpool on August 18 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and BURL

THE CANADIAN CHALLENGER. An arrival at Dunedin yesterday morning was the Canadian Government steamer Canadian Challenger, from Halifax and Sydney (Cape Breton), via Colon, Panama, and north New Zealand ports. The vessel was berthed at the Victoria wharf, where the local portion of her Canadian cargo is being discharged. The ship will also load products at this port. After loading at Halifax the Canadian Challenger completed her cargo at Sydney, taking her final departure from the latter port on May 4. A fine trip was made to Colon, which was reached on May 14. The Panama canal was negotiated nest day, and departure was immediately taken from Balboa. Moderate weather prevailed until about June 6, when there was a succession of gales and squalls until about a day before arrival at Auckland on June 14. Captain C. Wallace is in command, and has with him the following officers: —Chief officer, Mr L. Y. Wenfzell; second, Mr R. Harris; third, Mr C. H. Evans; wireless operator, Mr J. Dufresne; chief engineer, Mr J. Davis; second, Mr J. Paterson; third, Mr W. Keith; fourth, Mr J. Crichton. The Canadian Challenger is to sail to-day for Bluff, Wellington and Auckland to complete loading for New York. Boston and Montreal.
