Dr C. H. Tait returned to Dupediji from Wellington at the week-end. Miss Meda Paine left by the south express yesterday morning under engagement to sing with the Invercargill Male Choir. A Gisborne Press Association telegram states that Mr C. F. Marshall Smith has been appointed engineer to the Gisborne Harbour Board. Mr Smith is no» associated with the Christchurch Board. He will take up his new duties at the end of the month. Mr S. V. Fahey, who has acted as outside representative for the Bruce Railway and Coal Company for the past '/dit years, and who has accepted a similar position with the Kaitangata Coal Company, was met by his fellow-employees on Saturday morning and presented with atravelling rug from the employees and with a cheque from the directors. Mr D. Wilson, manager of the company, and Mr R. York referred to the pleasant relations which had always existed between Mr Fahey and the staff, and Mr Fahey suitably replied.
