It is estimated that construction of the submerged weirs will take about two years, after which an additional two feet of water will be available in the harbour at Montreal, and a minimum of 30 feet of water at all periods of the year will be obtained. The ultimate object, it is stated, is to provide 35 feet of water in the , port, and the construction work will bo undertaken with this in view.
