FIRES.
OUTBREAK AT CAMBRIDGE. (Peb United Press Association.) CAMBRIDGE, July 2. A fire occurred about 3.30 this morning in a shop and dwelling opposite the Town Hall owned by Mrs Davies and occupied by Mrs Milburn. Though the. fire had a good hold of the old building the brigade prevented its spread to the Y.M.C.A. building adjoining. The front of the shop was completely' destroyed, and the rear was gutted. The insurances are: Stock £250 in the Standard office, building £3OO in the State office. FIVE-ROOMED HOUSE DESTROYED. (Peb United Press Association.) MASTERTON, July 2. A five-roomed house at Mauriceville West, owned and occupied by Mr J. Jenson, was totally destroyed by fire about 11.15 this morning. Two girls, aged 15 and 14, who were at home at the time, discovered an outbreak at the rear of the house, and gave the alarm to the neighbours, who saved a large portion of the contents. As no water was available the house was burned to the ground. Details of the insurances are not available.
