CEREAL FOOD MANUFACTURE.
MESSRS FLEMING AND CO.’S WINDOW DISPLAYS. An aspect of New Zealand industry with a particular application to Otago and Southland is cereal food manufacture, one of the largest establishments for the production of which is Messrs Fleming and Co.’s mill at Gore Here a wide variety of cereal foods is manufactured from the finest quality locally-grown oats, and distributed under the well-known and widelycredited “ Thistle ” brand. This brand, with the widely known “ Sergeant Dan ” trademark, has been a synonym for quality and purity in the New Zealand market for many years. The company has at present a comprehensive series of window displays in city and suburban grocery houses, the businesses concerned being: Messrs J. Harvey and Co. (North-East Valiev), B. Ferguson and Co. (George street). Hunter and Etheridge (George street), Fraser and Sons (Stuart street), Wolfenden and Russell (King Edward street), M'Connell and Sons (King Edward street), James Stewart (King Edward street), and the Star Stores (Princes street). All these shops have effectively-arranged displays of the company’s products, a glance at which should convince the public of the honesty of the company’s claim to be the largest cereal food manufacturer in the Dominion. The tyrnd 3 on show include the following popular lines: —Thistle Rolled Oats, Thistle Oatmejl, Creamoata. Milk Oatics, Oatie-nuts, Sweet Heart-o-Wheat (Semolina), and Doctor Cream-o-Groats. Rolled oats and oatmeal are displayed in bags for tbe benefit of heavy consumers, and those whose diet includes only occasional dishes of this kind are catered for tbe smaller quantities offered for sale in cardboard packets. Other products of tbe firm include Chuk-clink (chicken feed) and Ceremilk for calves.
