THE SLEEP OF DEATH.
SLUMBER IN A BATH. A remarkable case of a man falling asleep while in his bath was investigated by the Liverpool coroner recently when an inquest was held on Edgar Lirton Smith, aged 28, a tobacco worker. Smith was found unconscious in the bath, which he had taken after a cycle run, and died shortly afterwards. Professor M'Fall told the coroner that there was nothing about deceased’s physical condition to suggest that he might collapse in his bath. lam of opinion.” the professor added, " that he went to sleep while having the bath, and -was drowned through his head slipping sideways and becoming immersed. Such cases are extremely rare.” “ Accidentally drowned ” was the verdict.
