Dreary dungeons, bare walls, and ironbarred windows will be a thing of the past for Prussian prisoners awaiting trial if reforms which are planned by the Prussian Department of Justice are put into effect. Instead, the prisoners are to have two cells each—a parlour and a sleeping cell. The cells will be as homelike as possible. The walls will be decorated with pictures. Curtains will odorn the windows and hide the ominous iron bars, and each parlour cell will be equipped with a wireless receiving set. Ths two-cell scheme, however, is intended only for prisoners awaiting trial. Ordinary convicts will not share in these comforts.
