(Peb United Press Association.! WELLINGTON - , June 4. John Clcrkin. labourer, aped 56, aj>peared before the court to-day and _admitted having been found on the premise* of the Bristol Piano Company without lawful excuse, but in circumstances that did not disclose the commission of or the intention to commit any other offence. He also pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness. The accused was found on the premises bv the nightwatchman and had apparently entered by the back door, which was not locked. It was not considered that he was on the premises for any sinister object. The magistrate told the accused to be more careful when he came to town. The accused apparently had some kind of hazy idea that he had been looking for a friend. ASHBURTON, June 4. The Ashburton war memorial was unveiled hv the Minister of Defence (Mr F. D. Rollostnni before a large assemblage. Mr W. Nosworthy also delivered an "address. Messages of goodwill were received from the consuls of the Allied countries. The memorial, in the form of an obelisk in Baring square, contains the names of soldiers of the county who gave their lives in the Great War.
