ENGLISH TEAM IN AUSTRALIA. ITS FIRST WIN. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, June 4. (Received June 4, at 11.30 p.m.) England defeated New South Wales by 22 points to 9. The visitors were more at home on the soft ground after overnight rain, and had recovered from the effects of the voyage. They gave a much better display and used their superior weight to advantage. In the first few minutes they led by 8 points to nil, but the local players then settled down and fought every inch, and at half time the score was; — England 10 points. New South Wales 9 points. After the interval the visitors forced the pace, and finished comfortable winners.—Australian Press Association.
