SOCIAL AT OUTRAM.

On Friday night, at Outram, a farewell social was tendered to Mr Allan M'Bryde, of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, who has been transferred to the Dunedin office. Progressive euchre occupied the first part of the evening, the prizes being won by Miss German and Mr Walker, and consolation prizes were secured by Mrs M'Lean and Mr Ryan. Musical items were rendered by Miss E. Wyllie, Miss A. Blair, Messrs James Bathgate and Hamilton; Miss Wilson was the accompanist. Mr Walker, on behalf of many friends, presented the guest of the evening with a suitcase, and wishing him success in the future and congratulations on his promotion. Speeches expressing the esteem in which Mr M'Bryde is hdld were made by Dr Wyllie, Messrs Bannerman, Hendry, and Walker. After supper a short dance was held, Mr W. Irving and Mr A. Miller providing the music. Mr M'Bryde will take up his new duties to-day.
