PATENT CASEMENT WINDOW

DOWN-TO-DATE INTENTION OF DUNEDIN MAN. (Published by Arrangement.) BALCLUTHA, May 4. The casement window is a very desirable feature of a modern dwelling, but, alas! how often it happens that these windows do not fit properly and are draughty, aiid therefore dangerous to health. An invention that the representative of the Otago Daily Times today examined at the premises of the Balclutha Woodware Company (Mr R. A. Dunn manager) is calculated to dispel all fear on that score and give a new lease of popularity to the easement window. It has all the merits of a casement window and none of its demerits, and hence should appeal to all house builders who wish to see their homes made “ down-to-date ” in every particular. It is a Dunedin patent, and has the additional merit, therefore, of owning as birthplace a douce city where anything that does not bear the hallmark of stability is apt to be shown a back seat. Even a casual glance will disclose to the most sceptical that the new casement is_ a handsome piece of hardware; but it is much more than that, being the only guaranteed weather, draught, and dust-proof window on the New Zealand market to-day. It is being manufactured in quantity by Messrs Evans and Co., King street, Dunedin. Mr Evans has been a tradesman in the Otagoan capital all his life, which in itself should be a guarantee of excellent workmanship, not to speak of honest trading. The South Otago agency for this most wonderful, useful, and desirable piece of household equipment has been, most fortunately for the disrict, secured by the Balclutha Woodware Company, whose premises are located at the corner of James and Gordon streets, where a sample window is now on view. The fact that the price is no more than that of an ordinary casement, with all its disabilities, should, add to the desirability of the new casement in a country where the people believe in getting their money’s worth every time, and a bit more if possible. Mr Dunn, the manager of the Woodware Company, will be pleased to show the new casement window to anyone interested and to furnish quotations for one window or as many as desired. All those who are looking for “ window comfort," and are further imbued with a desire for “ down-to-date-ness," should take a look at these windows before placing an order elsewhere.
