RAIN IN CENTRAL OTAGO.
BIG RISE IN THE MOLYNEUX,
A Clyde coi resepondent reports that heavy rain set in on Friday and continued throughout the night. As a result the Molyncux was in flood on Saturday. SATURDAY REPORTS.
The postmaster, Cromwell, advised ns follows: — , . , 8.30 a.m. —Continuous heavy ram for 12 hours ceased at 6 a.m. It is still raining at Arrowtown, L'uggate, and Pembroke. The river rose Oft during tho night, and is still rising. It is now 6ft above nor--10,45 a.m. —Light rain is falling. The river is up 12in since 8.30 a.m., and is now at the 13ft mark. 2 p.m. —Still showery, but eased slightly. River 13ft 4in. 5 p.m.—River steady at 13ft 4m mark. Weather cleared here. Showery up country. SUNDAY REPORTS.
9.15 a.m, —River at 14ft mark. Still rising slowly. Rain ceased throughout district. 6 p.m.—River steady at 14ft mark. No further rain.
