THE WONDERFUL ANT.
TO THE DITOR. Sie,—ln the Otago Daily Times cf Saturday, February 25, I have read one of the most astoundin'- histories of wisdom and knowledge contained in the intuition or brain of an ant—a poor, small creeping thing, which you would think has only fit to be used k*. food for bird or insect. If our teachers in tbe_ schools spent many hours each week in instructing the children till they were really enthralled in the wonder of ant life it would be better than all the abstract nonsense that their poor little brains are bewildered over and concerning which they are never really informed. Indeed, were the column which appears every Tuesday in your paper cn the wonders of animal nature made the subject of study in school what a wise and interesting set of young people we would have!—l am, etc., Ektebaius.
