One of the largest traffic “ jams ” recently experienced in Auckland developed from tho derailment of a tramcar at Grafton bridgj shortly after 5 o’clock on Monday evening, when the outward-bound stream was at its height (says the New Zoa’and Herald:. Three sets of double tramway track converging on the point and heavy ordinary vehicular traffic across tho bridge make tho intersection one of the busiest in tho city. The derailment of the tram at the intersection blocked traffic on all routes, and before the car was jacked back to the rails over 63 trams, packed with city workers, were held up, the line stretching from the top of Symonds street to Whitaker place, while congestion to a lesser degree was caused on the length of Karangahaps road between Queen street and Symonds street. Normal running was restored after about 20 minutes. Thirty-seven peers and 31 peeresses died last year; while three baronies and seven baronetcies became extinct, seven new peers and 15 now 7 baronets were created.
