Asked what effect Mr Justice Adanms ruling on euchre tournaments would have on the card parties of the Dunedin Club, of which he is president, Mr E. C. Cutten, S.M., said he would answer with a story. Years ago in Melbourne, ho said, there was an epidemic of burglaries. Someone went to Mr Purves, Q.C., and asked: “ Can I shoot any burglar I find in my house?” The Q.C. replied: “First shoot your burglar' and then ask me about it.” “ And that is my answer to you,” said Mr Cutten. Previously, when he was expressing his appreciation of the music, Mr Cutten had said; “1 regard the playing of cards as wicked, so, of course, I go into the other room and ja/.z.”
