CAPTURE OF A SHARK.

UNWELCOME VISITOR TO BATHING BEACH. (Special to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 19. When Messrs A. Brand, E. Brand, J. L. Scott, and B. Burgess, four members of the North Beach Surf Club,'wore about to enter'the water for a bathe at 7 p.m. this evening their attention was drawn by a woman to what appeared to be a body floating in the surf in front of the Memorial Hall. The swimmers immediately went to investigate and found the object to ■be a shark. Providing themselves with a stout stick they at once attacked the shark. Mr Brand, sen. ; eventually succeeding in jamming the stick down the unwelcome visitor’s throat. The shark was then dragged ashore whore, however, he succeeded in getting rid of the stick. It was again rammed down his throat. The men then dragged their capture up above high-water mark, where it became a centre of interest. When measured the monster was found to bo 7ft llin in length. A fisherman who saw the shark described it ns a blue pointer, one of the dangerous type, and expressed the opinion that it had been attracted into shallow water by the exceptional warmth of the water.
