A meeting of the executive of the North Otago Alotor Association was held last night, Mr J. S. Duncan presiding over a full attendance of members. A letter was read from Jack Gourlay complaining of certain alleged irregularities at the recent hill-climbing competition. He particularly complained of O Rhodes riding in place of E. Alacouoehie. —The Secretary stated that Rhodes had entered for two events, and he was not riding in place of Alaconochie. Rhodes had been allowed to enter merely to fill a gap. —Tho matter was referred to the Hill-climbing Committee to frame a reply to Air Gourlay. At the request of Air W. Q. D. Trotter (chairman of the Kartigi School Committee) it was decided that a warning notice be erected near the Kartigi School. It was resolved to purchase 600 copies of the new motor regulations for distribution among members. The South Island Alotor Union intimated that the half-yearly meeting of the union would be held at Christchurch on Alarch 30. Alessrs Mullins, Abbott, and Simpson were appointed delegates to the meeting. Accounts amounting to £lO 18s 9d were passed for payment. The Secretary reported that a deficit had been made on the recent hill-climbing competition of £7 18s 6d. This was about the same as last year. The collection had amounted to £6 ss. The Secretary expressed the opinion that the hillclimb would pay for itself in the course of a year or two. In the meantime it induced a large number of motor cyclists to become members. of the association. Hill-climbers of experience had stated that the Enfield Hill was the best for climbing in the Dominion. Nine new members were elected. The question of the motor camp was discussed at some length. The Secretary reported that the camp was being freely used, and the association had derived a net revenue of £7 from it in three months. A new scale of charges was agreed to, which will make the collection easier for the caretaker of the camp. The Secretary stated that 20 cars had been parked at the camp since January 24. One of the campers was an insurance manager from Melbourne, and he spoke very highly of the conveniences. A request for for highway works considered necessary in the district was regarded by Mr 11. Jenkins as unfair to the local bodies. Air Jenkins stated that tho local bodies could be depended upon to make the proper recommendations to the Highways Board. Several members expressed satisfaction with the improved state of the roads in the district, and with the fact that the whole of the secondary roads that bad been recommended by the County Council had been accepted by the Highways Board. The question of dangerous corners at Herbert and in other parts of tho district was discussed, and the matter of erecting further signposts was referred to the Sign Post Committee. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr A. E. Ansell, of the Otago Motor Club, for his efforts to secure a better allocation of tho petrol tax. ARAWA HOCKEY CLUB.
