Despite the inclementweather, there was a good attendance. Mr J. 31‘Laehlan (chairman of the school committee) presided, and welcomed all present who were assembled to do honour towards their guests. He presented Mr Bennett with an aneroid barometer and Mrs Bennett with a case of stainless dessert knives. Mr Bennett thanked the residents of the district for the presents received by Mrs Bennett and himself,* which came as a -surprise to them. He expressed a hope that botli he .and Mrs Bennett would bo able to keep in touch with their old friends of the district. After the concert a dance was held.
