THE TRAFFIC BY-LAWS.
TO' THI KDTVOR. Sir, — " Householder No. 3 ” writes entirely in the interests of the road hog when he says there would be a block in the traffic if the motor oars were not allowed to race the tram cars. I think the statement is too ridiculous to comment upon. If there was a block in the traffic it would be a “ road hog ” block. Besides there are plenty of streets for the motor car other than those in which the tram lines are laid, but the only delight the “ >-oad hog ” has is to race the tram oars. There have been three accidents this last "-eel-, (h'c. I am sorry to say. terminated fatally. In another a motor car smashed into a tram ear. In a third, a girl was • run over by a motor car, and has been in bed ever since. Here is the position simplified : Suppose there are five “ real) hogs ’’ waiting to pass a tram car. When the tram starts, the first motor car gets nast pretty easily, but the fifth has to go 40 miles an hour to race the tram ear before it comes to the next block. I give the inspectors praise for the good work they have done, hut they cannot be everywhere. —I am. etc., February 20. Hocseholdeb No. 4.
