FIRE IN WELLINGTON.
O 1 ' ' ■ 1 ■* DAMAGE TO WAREHOUSE. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, February 16. Fire broke out in the premises of Miller and Abeam, 110 Wakefield (street, early this evening. The blaze, which began in a maimer unknown, seized hold of the upper floor of the building of Miller and Ahearn, warehousemen, and sent a column . of smoke high into the air. The Central Fire Station machines were reinforced by machines from outlying stations. The fire was completely under control in less than an hour, but only after considerable damage had been done by fire and water. The insurances are not available. MOTOR TRUCK DESTROYED. (Per United -Press Association.) MASTERTON, February 16. Fire to-night destroyed a motor truck, valued at £ZOO, and the shed in which :b was housed, both being the property vf i.ir L. ti. Spaekinan, carrier, of Masterton. The shed was insured for £IOO, but. the truck was not insured. It is understood that the tire was caused through a leaky carburettor. WOODEN SHOP DESTROYED. At 3.20 yesterday morning the City Fire Brigade was called to a wooden shop on the corner of Royal terrace and Hcriot row, where a fire had broken oat. Before the bigada could suppress the outbreak extensive damage had been done to the shop, and a glasshouse next door was damaged. The glasshouse was owned by Mr W. A. Seott, and the shop was occupied by Miss Scott- The cause of the fire is unknown, and no insurances were available.
