A BIG GOAT SHOW.
The biggest goat show in Empire history has just been held in Vancouver, British Columbia, when 300 goats—loo more than over before —were exhibited. Goat-raising in the west of Canada, which five years ago was a new industry, has more than doubled io importance. Officials of the Dominion Department of Agriculture place the population of these animals in the province at 11.000. The sale of gnat milk alone in 1925 brought British Columbia farmers more than 122,800. and b;> the end of this year the figures will probably reach £25,000. Production records are high, averaging from 20001 b to 30001 b of milk per goat annually. The gr"-u champion of the show gave 181 b daily. The success of goat raising in this province is attributed to the excellent coast conditions, which make it possible for small■ farmers to maintain herds close to good markets, and to the f: -1 that it demands a minimum of labour. .
