A municipal lodging-house for stray dogs, to cost at least 20,000d01, is contemplated by the Chicago City Council. The building is to be a refuge, “ not a dog pound.” San Francisco spent more than £IO,OOO to build a refuge for its homeless animals. The Anti-cruelty Society of Chicago is taking in about 100 dogs a day'in its small refuge, and reports many homeless dogs in need of mnnldg«l hospitality.
