NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS.

(Per United Press Association.) WANGANUI, February 2. The North Island croquet championships were continued to-day. The following are the results ; North' Island Championship Doubles.— Final: Colonel Dupre and Miss Steele beat Mrs M’Dowell and Mrs Cole, 36—17. Ladies’ Open Singles (second life)— Third round: Miss Retallack beat Mrs Kibblewhite, 26—0; Mrs Johnson beat Miss Watki, 26—0. Fourth round: Mrs Gqldsbury beat Mrs Glen Watkin, 20—15; Miss Hesketh beat Miss Sheet, 26—3; Miss Retallick beat Mrs Gambaill, 26—4. The following will represent the North Island in a test match against England tomorrow:

Singles.—H. P. Stratton (Hastings). R. Caughley (Wellington), J. Murray (Palmeston North), Creed Meredith (Wanganui).

Doubles.—R. Caughley (Wellington), H. P. Stratton (Hastings), 'H. A. Penn (Ohakune), Mrs C. Watkins (Hastings). England will be represented by the following team: Singles.—Sir Francis Wemyss. Colonel Dupre, Miss Steele, Miss Retallack. Doubles—Colonel Dupre and Miss Steele, Sir Francis Wemyss and Miss Retallack.
