EMPIRE BROADCASTING
A MELBOURNE ATTEMPT. THE EXPERTS PLEASED. (Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON. January 29. (Received Jan. 30, at 6.5 p.m.) Station 3LO, Melbourne, was received splendidly at Keston between 7.45 and 8.30, Greenwich mean time, constituting by far the most successful attempt yet. it was a pity, under the circumstances, that the programme could not be relayed over England, as the strength and consistency justified, but no arrangements had been made to relay owing to the recent disappointments with this station. A few privileged Australians listening on the land line from Keston were surprised to hear the forecast of a deep depression located at Lord Howe Island. The succeeding item, Girl of Yesterday,” with vocal chorus, was as perfect as anything sent out from London. Experts are dcliprhted with the result of the broadcast, which was picked up on 32j) metres.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
